  • 16 oz extra firm tofu
  • 1 tsp soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp lemon pepper seasoning
  • Juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth
  • 12 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt (to taste)
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  2. Drain the tofu, press out excess moisture, and cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the tofu cubes with soy sauce, cornstarch, breadcrumbs, and lemon pepper seasoning until well coated.
  4. Spread the seasoned tofu on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and crisp.
  5. While baking, whisk together the sauce ingredients in a pot over medium heat until thickened.
  6. Toss the baked tofu in the sauce after cooling slightly and serve immediately with rice or veggies.
