  • 1 1/2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp light brown sugar (lightly packed)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp allspice
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp whole milk
  • 2 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and mix with yeast and brown sugar; let it sit until bubbly.
  2. In another bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add to the milk mixture along with pumpkin, melted butter, and beaten egg.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Let rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for 60 minutes.
  4. For the filling, mix sugars and spices in a small bowl while dough rises.
  5. Roll out risen dough into a rectangle; spread butter and sprinkle filling evenly.
  6. Roll tightly into a log shape, slice into six pieces, and place in a greased baking dish to rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. For frosting, beat together room temperature butter, maple syrup, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, milk, and salt until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
